![]() ![]() I explain to them what I did (these guys are not responsible for our alarm programs, nor the server that hosts the permissions), they laugh their asses off, reimage my machine to Windows XP, and call our contractor for our security software. Cue /delete of System32 and pop it back in.Ĭall manager, explain my PC has bit the dust, and Cue Tech Support coming in. I started by removing the hard drive, plugging it into my SATA-> USB converter, and taking ownership of the drive on my main PC. I decided that the only way to get this solved, would be a catastrophic failure of my system. ![]() Recently, this issue has gone from a nuisance, to a rage-and-hatred-inducing clusterfuck of epic proportions.Īfter 6 weeks of nothing being done about this, I decided to take matters into my own hands. Instead, however, permission issues have caused my system to need to be reset every single time, taking 5 minutes minimum if not longer. Normally, this would entail me logging back in, and everything would go back to normal. One of these major unresolved issues, was that my computer would often lose connection to the server, and time out the alarm application. This then led into a surge of our alarm monitoring system and caused a whole HOST of issues, some of which have yet to be resolved. This also includes having a PC next to my main system that watches and reports alarms around the campus.Īround 3 months ago, our campus was struck by lightning (literally on a light pole) which caused a blowout of some fiber units and also affected our analog cameras. In said role, I often also look over our physical security people to ensure everything is going smoothly, and assist them if needed for certain specific things. ![]() Instead, I handle security of the network and information systems instead as of now. First posting here, and I should immediately start by saying that I no longer work in a true TS/IT role.
